May 24--People at Richardson Electronics Ltd. still talk about the visitor from a giant global electronics company who thought he had stepped back in time when he toured Richardson's headquarters in the Kane County hamlet of LaFox.
The executive was a collector of old vacuum tubes that once powered radio and TV sets, and he was amazed to discover that the folks at Richardson still make them--including many types he thought were obsolete.
When he left, the man's pockets were bulging with samples to fatten his collection.
