NORFOLK -- Norfolk State the best athletic program in the MEAC? Athletic director Orby Moss concedes he'll need to see a little more success on the gridiron before he'll say that.
Then again, Moss doesn't have to say it; the conference is saying it for him. Despite a less-than-stellar performance by the Spartans' high-profile football and still-developing men's basketball teams, NSU has captured the MEAC men's All-Sports Award signifying the top athletic program in the league for the 2000-01 season.
``Not bad for a program that just went Division I three or four years ago, huh?'' Moss said.
