Trouble for Karen Geier's puppy named Romeo started with a cough.
A month later, Geier, who lives in Sun Prairie, said the little Lhasa Apso couldn't run across the yard without getting out of breath.
She took Romeo to the Animal Emergency Center in Glendale, where he was put on antibiotics and steroids. The medication helped, but the problems returned when Romeo was taken off the drugs. A veterinarian said Romeo's front and back limbs were deformed and his lungs were defective.
In April, four months after she bought him, Geier had Romeo euthanized.
