Post offices throughout the city of San Diego will soon receive 42 electric-powered vehicles as part of the nation's largest-ever rollout of an electric vehicle fleet.
The U.S. Postal Service and Ford Motor Co. launched 500 electric vehicles April 19 in Sacramento. All but 20 of the zero-emission vehicles built by Ford will go into service for the U.S. Postal Service throughout California, said Percy Della, spokesman for the California Energy Commission.
Using the electric delivery vans on short carrier routes will result in significant energy and emission benefits. At the same time, the post office will be reducing tail pipe emissions from its vehicles ...
