After six years of research and development, the Colombian company Polipropileno del Caribe SA (Propilco) has achieved a breakthrough--a transparent, injection stretch blow moulded (ISBM) water bottle in clarified PP (cPP).
According to the company, the development positions cPP as a viable alternative to PET for bottled beverages.
The US company Milliken Chemical gave Propilco technical support and also supplied the clarifying agent, Millad 3988. Propilco says Milliken helped it define resin characteristics such as melt flow rate, molecular weight distribution and Millad 3988 content.
