May 28--TURNPIKE RESTAURANTS BRING IN MORE REVENUE: Fewer travelers are spending more money on the West Virginia Turnpike thanks to renovations at three travel plazas in Kanawha, Raleigh and Mercer counties.
Last year, the Turnpike spent $3 million to renovate the Morton, Beckley and Bluestone travel plazas. At Kanawha County's Morton Travel Plaza, Burger King and Starbucks replaced Roy Rogers.
In Beckley, sales commissions from the restaurants increased 46 percent during the first four months of the year from $122,000 in 2000 to $179,000 in 2001, said Greg ...
