Salvadoran Earthquake Victim Faces Six Months of Chemotherapy

In keeping with its 130-year-old tradition of providing quality, charity care, St. Luke's Hospital has established the Operation Rainbow Fund to help pay for the emergency treatment of 23-year-old Blanca Tula Juarez Diaz and others like her. A mother of two left homeless by El Salvador's devastating earthquake in January, Diaz was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, an often-fatal bone cancer after her leg was crushed when her house collapsed during the quake.
Diaz was first examined by Dr. Dave Atkin during a volunteer mission to El Salvador in April. ...
