2001 MAY 23 - (NewsRx Network) -- In a study published in the May 2001 online version of the International Journal of Cancer, scientists from the Free University Medical Center, Amsterdam, showed that humanized HMFG1, a novel cancer-targeting antibody effectively harnesses components of the body's immune system to destroy tumor cell lines isolated from patients with breast cancer, in cell culture.

The antibody is being developed by United Kingdom biopharmaceutical company Antisoma plc (ASM; ASOM) under the name Therex.
