Further investment by international companies in the Egyptian cement sector is in prospect, with the decision to complete the privatisation of Helwan Portland Cement Company and the opening of negotiations about the sale of a stake in Misr Beni Suef Cement Company.
Strategic investors have been invited to bid for a 47.9 per cent stake in Helwan Cement, representing 12 million of the company's 25.1 million shares. The company's shares were trading at about [pound]E 44 ($11.40), giving it a market capitalisation of [pound]E 1,104 million ($287 million).
