SEATTLE _ Discount airline Pro Air expects to emerge from bankruptcy protection July 3 and be flying again from Detroit City Airport on Aug. 31, its founder and chief executive said.

If successful, the resurrection of Pro Air could promise real benefits for Detroit-area travelers. Before it was grounded by the government last fall, Pro Air's discount fares had created competition in a market long dominated by Northwest Airlines, the nation's fourth-largest carrier.
