May 31--DALLAS--While 120 protesters outside urged a boycott, Exxon Mobil CEO Lee Raymond was roundly applauded Wednesday for news of a stock split and quarterly dividend boost, reflecting record profits helped by higher energy prices.
At their annual meeting in Dallas, Exxon Mobil shareholders defeated a slew of dissident shareholder resolutions -- from gay rights to studying the environmental effect of drilling in an Alaskan wildlife reserve. Such resolutions are now a common feature at Exxon Mobil's stockholder meetings, but there was an added attraction this year.
