PROJECT OVERVIEW:
Bolivian authorities recently approved environmental and mining permits for the San Cristobal silver, zinc and lead mining project in the southern department of Potosi. The project in question is being promoted by U.S.-based APEX SILVER MINES LTD.
The San Cristobal mine reportedly contains estimated open-pit reserves amounting to 470 million oz of silver and some 4 million tons of zinc. Operating plans envision a throughput rate of 40,000 tons per day. And, the yield is forecasted to amount to 260,000 tons per year of zinc contained in concentrates and 27 million oz per year of silver during the first 5 years of operation.
