A relatively new class of drugs called ACE inhibitors can significantly reduce blood pressure and protect patients from heart attacks, kidney or brain damage. Yet a new study shows many patients either don't know about or don't take these drugs.
The study, done by Premera Blue Cross, is the first of its kind in Washington to examine patterns of using blood-pressure drugs.
Patients with diabetes or a history of heart disease are particularly at risk of organ damage from high blood pressure. But the study showed that 51 percent of diabetics are not taking ACE inhibitors, even though medical literature supports ...
