The Biotechnology Council of New Jersey, Inc. (BCNJ), has released The New Jersey Biotechnology Industry Study, which reports the number of biotechnology employees in New Jersey has grown 25% from 6,000, as reported in 1999, to 7,500 and New Jersey's biotechnology sector boasts its position as the fourth largest biotechnology center in the nation. The study cites an economic impact of $3.1 billion by the biotechnology industry and calls for future Governors to recognize the importance of the industry to New Jersey's future economy.
