OAKLAND_This utility stuff truly has tested Mark Bellhorn's versatility.
He was called up as a backup second baseman, became the A's top pinch runner, then started at second base for a hobbling Frank Menechino. Bellhorn then returned to his backup role for two weeks until Eric Chavez sustained a strained plantar fascia in his left foot on Wednesday.
Now, for the past two games, Bellhorn has been the team's starting third baseman. He entered Friday's game against the Baltimore Orioles hitting .200 (6-for-30) in 14 games and has cemented himself on the roster after nearly three years in the minors.
