Love and tragedy in a fantasy version of Paris

Running time: 126 minutes
Nicole Kidman comes as close as any contemporary actress to projecting a movie-star aura. With folds of red hair cascading toward her shoulders, Kidman commands the screen in Baz Luhrmann's Moulin Rouge, the musical that's supposed to resuscitate a genre that's been left for dead.
