SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. _ Annika Sorenstam has dominated the LPGA Tour while overtaking Karrie Webb for the No. 1 ranking.
She has won five tournaments, shot a 59, set almost every scoring record and entered the U.S. Women's Open trying to win the second leg of the Grand Slam.
But Webb has delivered a resounding slam of her own. On Saturday, when the rest of the field needed to make dramatic moves after Webb's second-round 65, she all but shut the door on the Open.
Her 1-under 69 tied the best score of the day, giving her a five-stroke lead over Se Ri Pak entering Sunday's final round.
