WHEN Patrick Rosenvinge booked a singles holiday in Tuscany, he pictured a week spent socialising with like-minded, unattached people.

Instead, when he arrived in Italy he found the single aspect of the holiday had been taken rather too literally. He was the only person on the package.

With a handful of elderly German couples his only companions in the hotel, the 46-year-old researcher decided to fly home the same day.

Mr Rosenvinge said he was astonished that a travel company would go to the trouble of organising a singles holiday for one person.
