Peanut allergy is becoming a major problem. Approximately one percent of all British and American school children are sensitized to them.
This allergy usually starts early in life. Between 70 and 80% of people allergic to peanuts have a reaction the first time they are exposed to them. In order to have an allergic reaction, the person's body must have had a previous exposure to the substance. Where do the children get their first exposure? Two possibilities are exposure in the uterus or via breast milk.
