STATE POLICE MOTORCYCLE PATROLS BEGIN THURSDAY
HARRISBURG, Pa., Aug. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- For the first time in 50 years, starting tomorrow, the Pennsylvania State Police will patrol some of the commonwealth's busiest highways on motorcycles.
"The primary purpose of the motorcycle patrols are to respond more quickly to accidents and emergencies on heavily traveled highways," State Police Commissioner Ronald M. Sharpe said at a news conference.
"The motorcycle trooper, upon arrival at a traffic accident, will assist any injured parties and attempt to restore normal traffic flow until a patrol car can reach the scene."
