House Panel to Debate Bill to Increase Scrutiny, CapitalMarket Disclosure for Foreign Firms in Sudan
A legislative provision increasing scrutiny of companies that invest in Sudan -- which some worry could lead to a bigger push for capital market sanctions against these firms -- will come under its own scrutiny today.
The House International Relations Committee will consider whether to keep or carve out a provision approved by the panel's Africa Subcommittee on May 16 that bans companies operating in Sudan from trading their stocks in US capital markets unless they make certain disclosures.
