Kate Spade, she of nylon handbag fame, is taking her shoes elsewhere.
Spade, who launched her footwear line almost two years ago with New York-based GFW Group, has realigned itself with another Manhattan firm, Schwartz & Benjamin. According to Kate Spade Spokeswoman Susan Anthony, the brand needed a partner that was more compatible with the designer's vision and style sensibility.
"With GFW, there was a difference in ideas about brand positioning," explained Anthony. "GFW built substantial businesses for Adrienne Vitadinni and Isaac in the bridge market, which is their expertise, and that's where they intended to keep Kate. We always intended to evolve ...
