THE Notting Hill Carnival and two of London's great symphony orchestras are among the capital's many arts organisations to benefit from some of the biggest increases ever awarded by the grant-giving body, London Arts.
Most notable are the [pound]775,000 increases for the two resident orchestras at the Royal Festival Hall, the Philharmonia and the London Philharmonic, which double their annual subsidy.
The carnival does well too. Final figures are still being worked out but over the next three years London Arts support for the carnival, currently at [pound]324,000 a year, will rise to well over [pound]500,000.
