WHILE everyone was crying into their beer about tech funds, emerging market funds have reared their tarnished heads and pulled out in front. In the last month alone, the Aberdeen Latin American Unit Trust Fund charged up 18%. This was not necessarily a case of one fund getting it right and the rest missing the boat - the average return, as well as the median, was around 14%.
Even more astounding, the Foreign & Colonial Latin American Investment Trust Fund bounced up 30%.
This has been a one-month phenomenon, I'm sure. The overall five-year gain on this Foreign & Colonial fund was up five percentage points less. In other ...
