The release of the blockbuster movie "Pearl Harbor" has reminded a generation of Americans how the Japanese attack on Dec. 7, 1941, drew the United States into World War II. Today is the 57th anniversary of the climatic battle that marked the beginning of the end of the war, the allied invasion of Nazi-occupied Normandy in France. It is a fitting time to honor the soldiers who turned the crushing defeat of Pearl Harbor into the course-changing victory on D-Day.
