The University of Washington (UW) and the Department of Energy's Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) have formed the Joint Institute for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology to integrate expertise in nanobiology, material synthesis, characterization, and theory modeling. The agreement calls for each partner to provide $500,000 in the first year for administering and supporting the joint institute.
