Masking tapes and substances that protect objects which shouldn't be painted are well-known by DIY enthusiasts.
On a larger, industrial scale something more sophisticated is sometimes needed. Presently a masking material made from polypropylene is used to protect complex shapes from an unwanted coat of paint. However, this material deforms at temperatures greater than 150[degrees]C -- commonly used to cure and set coating films used in industrial plants. Another problem is that once the polypropylene has deformed it can contaminate the coating being applied. ...
