Wood Dale Scouts to trek Grand Canyon
Wood Dale Boy Scout Troop 65 will again make its annual trek of a lifetime - a hike of the Grand Canyon.
Every five years since 1967, children ages 11 to 18 can hike from the Grand Canyon's South Rim into "The Hole," across to its North Rim, and back again.
This mean 48-mile trek, hiked over six days in 100 degree temperatures, through several different climates and intense elevation changes. The troop will leave for the Grand Canyon July 28. After hiking the canyon, the troop will spend four days at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nev. For details, contact Scoutmaster Rich Zollner at (630) 351-7164.
