A few weeks ago, I had lunch with Eric Valli, who directed Himalaya, a movie that won a couple of Cesars (the French equivalent of the Oscar) and was nominated for an Academy Award as best foreign language film in 2000. (It lost to Pedro Almodovar's All About My Mother.)
