Faces that shaped a city
QI WONDER if any readers recognise their fathers or grandfathers on this Lythalls Lane gang photograph, taken in 1929?
They were Coventry Corporation workers laying drain pipes and kerbstones in Lythalls Lane, which until that time was only a rough roadway.
The work was partially funded by the government to relieve chronic unemployment. My late father, Alf Sutton, is sixth from right on the back row.
