More than 100 polyurethane Charlie Brown statues are beginning to show up across St. Paul this weekend as a sequel to last summer's popular Snoopy public art tribute to hometown cartoonist Charles Schulz, who died last year. A few of the Charlies have been on display at a mock baseball field in vacant Grand Av. lot east of Lexington Parkway. One of the sculptures, sponsored by the Grand Avenue Business, will remain at the little baseball field, while the others will scatter around town until a fund-raising auction in the fall. All 102 of the Charlie Brown statues are expected to be in place by mid-June; for more details on each statue, go to http://www.ci.stpaul.mn.us
