Incorporated in 1984, Moreno Valley set the U.S. record for growth in the late 1980s, claiming the "nation's fastest growing city" title. Since then, the 1990s recession and the realignment of neighboring March Air Force Base have been, in hindsight, just a chance for Moreno Valley to catch its breath.
