Score one for the consumer. In the battle againts the thousands of unneccesary cesarean deliveries performed every year, we've won a victory. For a decade women have advocated for safer, natural births -- and their efforts have finally forced the industry to respond.
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) has issued strong guidelines stating that repeat cesarean deliveries should no longer be routine. According to the ACOG, 50 to 80 percent of women who have had one or more low transverse cesareans should, as a matter of course, deliver vaginally unless specific complications arise.
