SAN DIEGO_Sure, the A's 32-32 record isn't striking fear into their opponents. But their starting pitchers sure must be.
Now that Gil Heredia appears to be back on track, the A's legitimately can trot out a starting pitcher every game and have a chance of receiving a quality start.
Mark Mulder has pitched like an All-Star, Tim Hudson has done the same after a slow start, and Barry Zito and Cory Lidle each has had only a handful of poor performances.
Heredia was the last to come around. He was hit hard during his first seven starts this season, going 2-5 with an 8.92 ERA. But he has turned it around dramatically, compiling a 3.19 ERA in his past ...
