US hard surface flooring demand is forecast to increase three percent per year through 2005 to over one billion square yards. Gains will be stimulated by repair and improvement spending in both the residential and nonresidential sectors, as well as by product innovations and the expansion of distribution channels. Particularly strong growth is expected in the laminate, wood and ceramic tile categories, which will continue to capture market share previously held by carpets and rugs. These and other trends are presented in Hard Surface Flooring, a new study from The Freedonia Group, Inc., a Cleveland-based industrial market research firm.
