It's fair to say the biggest surprise about "The Anniversary Party" is how good it is.
After all, this is the first collaboration between Jennifer Jason Leigh and Alan Cumming, veteran actors who, while starring in the hit Broadway revival of "Cabaret," decided to write, direct, produce and star in a movie together.
They cast their friends as co-stars, folks such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Kevin Kline and his wife, Phoebe Cates (who had co-starred with Leigh in 1982's "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" and been a best buddy ever since).
