At a time when most Hollywood films are relentlessly stupid and safe, "The Anniversary Party" is smart and edgy. Likewise, while most Hollywood movies center on one or two big stars playing stick-figure characters, "The Anniversary Party" has a dozen talented performers mixing it up, including Gwyneth Paltrow, John C. Reilly, Parker Posey and Phoebe Cates. For those too young or benumbed to remember, it's called ensemble acting.
