The Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit has started work on $25 million in upgrades at its Oak Park and West Bloomfield Township locations.
The improvements are the result of a two-year, $31 million capital campaign the center concluded in March, said David Sorkin, executive director of the center. Money not used for capital improvements will go into a community center endowment fund for building maintenance and programs, he said.
The upgrades at the Jimmy Prentis Morris Center in Oak Park and the D. Dan and Betty Kahn Center in West Bloomfield represent the biggest projects the organization has taken on since building the Kahn Center 25 ...
