A deal between Harvard Pilgrim, one of Massachusetts' biggest HMOs, and Partners, the state's biggest hospital network, promises to set up a groundbreaking model for delivering high-quality care, analysts said yesterday.
Signed after months of tough negotiations, the four-year agreement Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Inc. nailed down with Partners HealthCare System Inc. offers financial incentives if Partners meets certain quality-of-care measures. Patient advocates said the incentives could result improved care.
