DALLAS _ They look cool, but they might be hot.
Bowling shoes those rented, two-toned, numbered clunkers are disappearing daily from bowling alley racks, the target of fashion-conscious thieves.
"We probably have more than one (pair) a day going out of our doors," said Jim Welch, marketing director for Don Carter bowling lanes in Dallas. "It's the chic thing now. They're so ugly, they're cool."
Spare me, said bowler Kendall Cook of Dallas. He doesn't get it.
"I couldn't see anybody wanting to steal these things," Cook said, looking down at his red-and-blue rented shoes.
"Ain't no way I'd wear these outside of here."
