Jun. 21--Bighorn sheep researchers working hundreds of miles apart are studying whether acid snow could be causing populations of the wild sheep to decline by reducing the amount of critical trace minerals in the plants they eat.
Denver Museum of Nature & Science biologist Lance Carpenter looks for bighorn from South Sheep Mountain. First discussed by researchers in Wyoming's Wind River Range, the theory suggests that the lack of those minerals renders bighorn more susceptible to disease and predation.
