THE FACE on the poster opposite is about to become the most wanted in Berlin - with a [pound]100,000 bounty for its capture advertised all over the city.
But the face in question is not that of some master criminal - but rather artist Francis Bacon, as portrayed by Lucian Freud.
Freud's picture was stolen in Berlin in 1988 while on loan and now the British Council is taking remarkable steps to get it back.
In a campaign more reminiscent of the Wild West, the council is tomorrow putting up the wanted posters, which have been devised by Freud himself, and offer a reward of up to 300,000 Deutschmarks ...
