A BATTALION of British troops, most probably from the Parachute Regiment, is set for deployment in Macedonia as part of a Nato force to disarm Albanian rebels.
The British contingent of up to 1,000 soldiers could fly to Skopje at the weekend, provided a peace agreement is signed by the Macedonian government and the rebels.
Nato plans to send around 4,000 troops in a bid to prevent the country sliding into civil war. France, Spain, the Czech Republic, Norway and the Netherlands have pledged military support.
