On a simply voyeuristic, vicarious level, "The Anniversary Party" _ in which a bunch of actors, screenwriters, directors and other show-biz swells spend a night in the Hollywood Hills house of a celebrity couple celebrating their (not so) wedded bliss _ is good fun. After all, when was the last time you were invited to a soiree where Gwyneth Paltrow, Kevin Kline and Jennifer Beals were hanging out?
The directorial debut of Jennifer Jason Leigh and Alan Cumming, who also co-wrote this sharp-looking shot-on-digital film and co-star as the married movie star and novelist, respectively, "The Anniversary Party" has a loose, improvisatory feel that rings true. When the ...
