In the national discussion about teens and sex, it's the adults who turn it into an either-or debate.
Purists on one side contend that "Just Say No" is the answer, arguing that the only solution is abstinence. The opposing view comes from strident sex education advocates who believe knowledge about safe sex and contraception is the true antidote to teenage parenthood.
Yet the limited research - and teens themselves - say that some of both approaches work, reports the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy. Even more important, say campaign officials, young people avoid premature parenthood if they feel good about themselves and their futures. ...
