AMA FILES BRIEF IN SUPREME COURT CASE

REGARDING WITHDRAWAL OF MEDICAL TREATMENT

CHICAGO, Aug. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- In the first case of its kind to be heard by the Supreme Court, the American Medical Association (AMA) will file on Friday, Sept. 1, an amicus curiae brief with the United States Supreme Court in the case of Cruzan v. Director of Missouri Department of Health, urging the court to decide that patients who are permanently unconscious have a constitutional right to have all medical treatment withdrawn.
