When Thomas Dessy, chairman of Suncoast Schools FCU, described the type of board member who can do more harm than good, there were plenty of heads nodding in agreement here.
Speaking to the Florida Credit Union League's 67th Annual Convention on the duties and responsibilities of CU directors, Dessy's comments revealed that even the most veteran of CU directors can use some "Credit Union 101" every once in a while.
Though billed as a primer for first-time board members, the advice offered during the special session is worthy of notice by long-time directors as well, some of the attendees agreed.
