The two founding families behind KLA-Tencor Corp. (Nasdaq: KLAC), one of the world's largest semiconductor equipment companies, today announced the first group of scholarship winners from the Urbanek/Levy Education Fund. Valued at $2 million, this unique foundation was established this past January to help fund higher education and learning for the children of KLA-Tencor's employees. It was conceived and funded by KLA-Tencor Chairman, Ken Levy; his wife, Gloria; and fellow board member, Lida Urbanek, the widow of late-Tencor Instruments founder Karel Urbanek.
