The Colorado Avalanche, banking on its past success in the middle rounds of the draft, traded wing Chris Dingman and defenseman Nolan Pratt on Sunday to acquire fourth- and fifth-round selections on the second day of the NHL entry draft.
Dingman, the Avalanche's 6-foot-4, 225-pound enforcer who played effectively on the fourth line during Colorado's Stanley Cup championship run, was dealt to Carolina for a fourth-round pick (149th overall). The Avalanche selected Finnish defenseman Mikko Viitanen with that pick.
