ABSTRACT: A survey of the distribution and abundance of amphibians and reptiles was conducted at the Newport Chemical Depot in northern Ver million County, Indiana. Based on trapping, hand-collecting, observation, and anuran breeding call surveys, thirty species of amphibians and reptiles have been recorded at the depot to date. We observed 15 species of amphibians and 15 species of reptiles. The most common amphibians in approximate order of decreasing abundance were: the spring peeper (Pseudacris crucifer), western chorus frog (Pseudacris triseriata), American toad (Bufo americanus), Fowler's toad (Bufo woodhousii), green frog (Rana clamitans), small-mouth salamander ...
